Joshua Wengraf, year 2 CDT student, is the cofounder and chair of STEMSoc, a volunteering society whose aim is to encourage more children from disadvantaged backgrounds to pursue a career in STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) subjects and to help resolve the gender gap in these fields.

On March 6th he led a team of volunteers with IntoUniversity to deliver an engineering workshop where they taught year 10 students about civil engineering using a bridge building activity. This involved the students building bridges out of paper and cardboard and testing their strength using weights. They also took the students on a tour around campus and discussed what is like to study at university.

If you are interested in getting involved next year then contact IntoUniversity or STEMSoc at their website or Facebook group.
