CDT student Joseph Brownless attends IRMMW-THz conference in Paris
This year, the international conference on Infrared, Millimeter, and Terahertz Waves (IRMMW-THz), which alternates continents every year, was in Paris from 1st-6th September. It covered a broad range of THz-related topics, ranging from fundamental research to nano-THz devices to imaging techniques and applications.
This year there were over 800 delegates, with 7 parallel oral sessions on different topics and a wide array of plenary talks. I had the privilege to attend this year, presenting both a poster and an oral talk in one of the nano-quantum devices sessions.
While in Paris I found time for some sightseeing, and the conference also included a formal dinner boat cruise on the Seine, which was truly a unique experience.
It was a privilege to be able to present at this conference in front of academics from around the world, and to have the opportunity to talk to PhD students and other researchers in the field. I would strongly recommend anyone doing research in an applicable field to attend in the future, and next year the conference will be held in Buffalo, New York.
